September 12, 2019 | Red Deer, AB – The 46th Canadian Finals Rodeo (CFR 46) returns to Westerner Park this fall with an all-new Cabaret entertainment lineup, featuring some of Canada’s top country music artists. The CFR 46 Cabaret, presented by Home Building Centre, will feature all-Canadian acts on the TD Cabaret Stage over the six-day celebration. The Cabaret’s opening acts have been announced to complete the week’s entertainment schedule:
Tuesday, October 29 – Doc Walker, opened by Garrett Gregory
Born in the rural town of Hanna, Alberta, Garrett Gregory is an ambitious vocalist with a shockingly powerful voice and a live show that has been turning heads with his breakthrough into country music. He recently released an EP with the band Chillbilly, with the single ‘Hot with Her Hair Down’ ranking as a top 5 indie download on DMDS, playing on hundreds of stations. In addition to writing his own music, Garrett has also developed an extensive repertoire of cover songs of all genres. From Merle Haggard to Eric Church, and The Rolling Stones to Jimmy Eat World, Garrett Gregory brings a show to remember.
Wednesday, October 30 – Bobby Wills, opened by Legend of George Jones
Be part of a special tribute to the man considered to be the greatest country singer of all time – George Jones. Award-winning Canadian singer/songwriter Duane Steele and his band will take you on a journey of Jones’ life through stories and songs. Steele will sing the hits of Jones that spanned five decades including his duets with Tammy Wynette to the No.1 country song of all time ‘He Stopped Loving Her Today’. You’ll also hear the stories of Jones’ life which echoed the country songs he sang – filled with success, failure, hard-drinking and heartbreak.
Thursday, October 31 – George Canyon, opened by Chris LeBlanc
For Canadian recording artist Chris LeBlanc, it’s all about the music. Released in 2012, his sophomore album Two Hearts and Four Wheels featured radio favourites like ‘Little Brick Bungalow’, ‘Fallen’, and the title track ‘Two Hearts and Four Wheels’. The New Brunswick native has had the pleasure of sharing the stage with many great Canadian and US artists ranging from Julian Austin to Charlie Pride. His smooth, deep vocals and unique styling will instantly captivate you.
Friday, November 1 – The Road Hammers, opened by Lauren Mayell
With the release of her eagerly anticipated Album (June 2019), acclaimed Calgary-based country singer/songwriter Lauren Mayell takes her craft to the next level. Already a staple at country radio with six singles issued to date, including ‘Rules Need Rebels’ and ‘Say It’, she has shared marquee stages with artists like Dean Brody, Meghan Patrick and Kane Brown. Lauren is the 2018 ACMA Female Artist of the Year and was named Country 105’s Rising Star in 2017.
Saturday, November 2 – Corb Lund, opened by Kendra Kay
Award winning country singer/songwriter Kendra Kay’s recent record ‘More to Me’ spent 17 weeks on the Top 100 Canadian Country National Airplay charts in 2018, and recently won both the MCMA Fan’s Choice Award and the Canadian Independent Music Video of the Year Award for ‘Best Country Video’. She toured across Canada and played shows such as the CFL Banjo Bowl Halftime Show, Tim Horton’s Brier, Rogers Hometown Hockey Festival and opened for artists such as James Barker Band, Jess Moskaluke and Doc Walker.
The 46th edition of the Canadian Finals Rodeo boasts free Cabarets from Tuesday, October 29 to Friday, November 1. Saturday night’s Cabaret will require a cover charge of $25 per person for Corb Lund & Kendra Kay’s live performance. Limited tickets are available for the Saturday night Cabaret, and can be purchased in advance at ticketsalberta.com.
