WESTERNER PARK, RED DEER, Alberta

The Spirit is Alive in The City of Red Deer!

November 1, 2018 | Red Deer, AB – On the third day of the CFR, the theme was Ladies Night, sponsored by Chatters Hair Salon. Their Style Happy Van was set up outside the ENMAX Centrium greeting Rodeo Fans with a Braid Bar & Free Styling with prizes to be won. Also presented by Chatters, is an ongoing encouragement to be kind to one another in true western fashion through Rodeo Acts of Kindness. A grand prize of  $1000 is being offered for catching kindness in the act and by using the hashtags #ChattersHairSalon #CFR45 and #RodeoActsOfKindness to share on social media.

Rodeo Acts of Kindness began for CFR45 before the rodeo even started. Gary Rempel, CFR45 pick up man, was on his way to Red Deer with his 4 pick up horses, Herbie in saddle bronc, Sully in bareback, his palomino Brooks, and his dark sorrel Spur when his truck broke down.  Jim and Karry Kelts ‘rescued him’ by not only lending their truck to get his trailer to the Canadian Finals Rodeo but Jim also took his truck to a shop nearby. When plan A didn’t work for Gary’s truck in the shop, Jim and Karry Kelts lined up a tow truck to take it to another shop. Karry lent him her car for the week so he would have something to get around Red Deer with. Gary let the public know this by using the hashtag #RodeoActsofKindness.

The Canadian Finals Rodeo had over 6100 rodeo fans fill the ENMAX Centrium for Performance #3. The opening show began with a horse stampede paying tribute to the animal athletes of CFR. Owners and their stock gathered around as the announcers recognized the animals for their 2018 Stock Award and Title.

The day started at Hampton Inn & Suites, official CFR host hotel, as they hosted the Saddle Bronc and Steer Wrestling contestants for meet and greets with our community. The night ended with Karac Hendriks, JayWalker, Nice Horse, and headliner Meghan Patrick on the TD stage in the Cabaret.

On Friday, November 2 start your day and join us for free daily Pancake Breakfast presented by EQUS with suggested donation going to The Mustard Seed.  Performance #4 will start at 7:00 PM with the theme Around the World. Showcase your heritage by wearing your country’s colours.
